Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • How is the Minnesota Fury affiliated with the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU)?
The Minnesota Fury is a member club of the Amateur Athletic Union. All of our coaches and players are required to be AAU Members. Our teams play mostly in AAU sanctioned events.

  • How do you form your teams?
The majority of the spots on our teams are filled in Aug/Sept through a combination of invitations and tryouts. Please visit our tryout link for information on tryout dates and locations.

  • How long is the season?
All of our teams start to practice in late March or early April. Our younger teams end their season in June, while our older teams play through July.

  • When do your teams play games?
Our teams play in weekend tournaments during the months of April, May, and June. The older teams that play in July could play in non-weekend tournaments due to the NCAA Viewing Calendar.

  • How often do you practice and where?
We practice on average twice per week and that varies between weeknights and weekends. Practice locations are typically in the Bloomington and Eagan/Mendota Heights areas.

  • What other skill improvement opportunities are available?
Separate from team practices, we also run several 2-hour skill sessions that are similar to a one night camp and are included in team fees. Some of our coaches also do one on one and small group workouts for a small charge.

  • How much does it cost to play?
Unlike some other clubs, our team fees vary team by team based on their tournament schedule.

  • What is included with the team fees?
Team fees include everything needed to play except AAU Membership ($16) and travel expenses. Additionally, each player is provided with an apparel/gear package.

  • What about college exposure?
As directors, we work hard on getting our players exposure to college coaches. Careful consideration is put in when building our NCAA Viewing Period calendar. We have also developed positive relationships with college coaches at all levels and maintain these relationships through the year. Over the past five seasons (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 Classes), 46 of our players have committed to D1 programs, while a total of 93 have earned scholarships at the D1, D2, or NAIA level.

  • Who coaches your teams?
We feel that we have assembled the best group of coaches of any club in the state. We have several current and former Varsity Head Coaches and NCAA Coaches on our staff. To learn more about our coaches, visit our Staff Page.
